Frequently asked questions
This page answers the most commonly asked questions about the racecourse. If your question isn't answered here, please call us on 01242 513014.
How do I get to Cheltenham Racecourse?
Cheltenham Racecourse is just a few minutes from Cheltenham town centre and a short distance from the M5. By car follow the AA signs to the car parks. The nearest train station is Cheltenham Spa. Race day bus links run from the Station to the Racecourse. For train information call 08457 484950.
How to find us
When should I arrive?
Gates open two hours before racing begins. Even on relatively quiet days traffic can build up so plan to arrive in good time. There is plenty to see and do before racing with Trade Stands, the Hall of Fame, interviews in the Paddock and other entertainment.
What should I wear?
There is no dress code at Cheltenham - we recommend you dress for the weather. Thursday at The Festival is now established as Ladies Day. There are awards for Best Dressed Lady, Best Accessories and Best Hat so feel free to dress up.
Can I book lunch?
We offer a wide range of dining, hospitality or corporate entertainment from 2 to 200. Please call our hospitality team on 01242 537 653 to discuss your hospitality arrangements.

Is there parking?
At most meetings ample free car parking is available. Parking for The Open Saturday costs £5 (£4 in advance) and for The Festival £10 (£8 in advance).
Should I buy tickets in advance or just turn up?
Except for the Friday of The Festival, which is all ticket, badges and tickets can be bought at the entrances, although there are significant savings to be made at all meetings by booking ahead. To book and receive tickets in advance call 08445 793 003 or buy online.
Are there disabled facilities?
Car Park staff will help those with disabled discs park as close as possible to the entrances. There is a wheelchair viewing area around the Paddock and race viewing areas with wheelchair access within the Enclosures.
Are dogs allowed?
Only guide dogs are allowed in the Enclosures. If you are leaving a dog in your car, please allow plenty of air.
Can I bring children?
Yes. Under 18s are admitted free, except at The Festival, when children of school age and over are charged full price.
Can I hire binoculars?
Binoculars can be hired from the Octagon Information Point above the Paddock next to the Arkle statue.
Can I transfer to a different Enclosure once I have bought a ticket?
When Club and Tattersalls are combined, you can buy a transfer to upgrade from the Best Mate Enclosure. On Paddy Power Gold Cup Day and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of The Festival, you can also transfer from Tattersalls to Club.
Where is a suitable meeting point?
The North (near the Paddock) and South entrances and Hall of Fame make good meeting places outside the enclosures, while inside the statues of Arkle, Best Mate, Dawn Run and Golden Miller are all easy to find.
Can I leave luggage or belongings somewhere?
There is a left luggage office above the Hurdlers Hall with access for everyone in Club and Tattersalls. You are asked to reclaim your belongings within an hour after the last race.
If there a lost property office?
If you lose or find something go to the Police Office in Tattersalls or, at The Open and The Festival, the Best Mate Enclosure. After a raceday please call the Racecourse Office on 08445 793 003 to enquire about lost property.
Can I use a camera?
You may use a camera without a flash in the normal public enclosures. Flash photography can frighten the horses. Photographs may not be taken for commercial purposes.
Is there a cash point at the Racecourse?
A cash point can be found in the Hall of Fame. At The Festival, there are additional cash points near the Paddock and in the Best Mate Enclosure.
Is there a Chemist at the Racecourse?
At The Open and The Festival, a Pharmacy is available behind the Grandstand, above the Hurdlers Hall next to the See You Then bar. First Aid staff are on duty at all meetings.
Can I get a refund on my tickets?
No refunds will be given for tickets that are purchased and not required or used. Full refunds will only be given if racing is abandoned before the first race. A 50% refund will be given if racing is abandoned before the third race or feature race. No cash refunds will be given on the day. These will be administered by post after the day. Applications for refunds should be sent within one month after the fixture, except for The Festival when refunds will be sent automatically.
